I want nobody nobody but you!

I'm not a big fan of Korean music or non-english music for that matter. Mainly because I'm weak in any other language I know except English. But every now and then, a tune comes along that catches my fancy. This time it is "Nobody" by Wondergirls, a quintet of girls (duh!) from Korea.

I don't understand a single word of Korean and honestly, the song does sound alittle too bubblegum pop in some parts for my liking. But I like this video. Maybe bcos of the dancing or the girls' dresses or the comedy or a combination of everything. Heck, I just like it. :)

730

That's my score on the GMAT. After much preparation and leaving my job, this has come as a much needed relief. I am glad it is over although it does mark the beginning of lengthy and tedious applications for the b-schools of my choice. It is also, in a way, a vindication of my leaving my job. Looking back I do not think I could have gotten this score without having left my job. There was too much to handle for me to be able to balance preparing for the GMAT and work at the same time.

Now that that's one more step forward, time for the final two steps - application essays and interviews. Unlike the GMAT, they are not as easily controlled though. I can't study for interviews nor can I effectively determine how the admissions committee of each school will view me. Fingers crossed.

But for now, a sigh of relief is in order. :)

Sit Down!

I had spent the previous weekend in Phnom Penh with S and it was just fantastic - the company and the country. Yea, undeveloped relative to SG but we discovered enough dining gems that boosted its ratings in my book.

funny incident occurred while on the flight back. it has more or less cemented the impression i have of budget airlines in my head. the short of it is, service was bad. atrocious not because it they did not serve well, but atrocious because of one single incident where the flight attendant actually shouted and forced a passenger to sit down while the "seat belts on" sign was illuminated. here is how it went.

The plane had hit some turbulence...

Man: *Gets up from front of plane to head to the lavatory at the back*
Flight Attendant: *Shouts from the back of the plane* Sir, please sit down! The seat belt sign is on!
M: But I need to go to the toilet...
FA: No, sir! The seat belt sign is on! Sit down!
M: But ....
FA: Sir, please sit down!
M: *Drops into an empty seat beside him looking bewildered*

When the turbulence passed....

Man: *Raises his hand meekly and asks the flight attendant still at the back of the plane* Can I go to the toilet now?

A Conversation with a Hairstylist

It is amazing the kind of insights your regular neighbourhood hairstylist can have on world events.

This conversation was conducted mostly in Mandarin. Here it is translated into Singlish.

Hairstylist: *while washing my hair* Today Jakarta kena bombing leh. Bomb two hotels leh.
Me: Ya. I read about it just now.
Hairstylist: That place so messed up already. Still keep bombing.
Me: Ya.
Hairstylist: Siao eh. (Hokkien: "Crazy")
Me: Hehehee....
Hairstylist: Bo nao. (Hokkien: "No brain")
Me: Hahahahaaa.......

The Brain

After 28 years of existence on this planet, I have come to the conclusion that the human brain turns from sponge to plasticine to petrified prune during the course of a person's life.

my brain is feeling like plasticine right now. i believe if i were to take it and drop it on the ground now, it'll just land with a dull thud.

S thinks i'm still a sponge. like spongebob. while i do not share the same sentiment, it is not because of the most obvious reason in this moment. rather, incidentally i do have a friend named patrick.
