finally........

So Close

if there's one thing i really envy the female species of is the fact that they can go splurging on stuff every other day.........not necessarily big expensive stuff.........but they have a large variety of small little stuff they can buy that will satisfy their retail addiction.........

i cant..........mainly cos the stuff i wanna buy cost bombs..........it is gonna sound pretty ridiculous to some pple, but 15mins ago i was so close to forking out $150++ for 3 jars of car wax.......of which one of them costs abt $70-80............

yep, and that is despite my lowly financial state...........

i was sooooo close...........sooooo close..........

Things are absolutely frosty this time of year.....

im stuffed........as stuffed as the turkey that was on the dinner table last nite.........

hmmm......that means i stuffed myself with a stuffed turkey........does that make me a hurkey? y'know, turducken = turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken, so human stuffed with a turkey = hurkey........geddit?

nvm, sometimes too much chocolate truffle log cake can make a person quite nonsensical.......

one thing abt waking up on boxing day is the realisation that xmas day is over..........which is quite a saddening thought........mainly cos that means the holiday is over and it's time to face work again.........times like these i thank my lucky stars im still a student...........and then i start running thru my sums mentally and realise how much ive racked up on my credit card bill.......that's when i start cursing at being a student again and start taking stock of the stuff santa has given me this yr..........which is often ziltch...........

guess ive been naughty too often than nice........

sis had a wonderful way of describing the season of giving to me this year.......she giving me my credit card bill, and me giving her the money to pay for it..........

went down to dbl o on the eve of xmas eve for a xmas party..........it was fun........not outrageous crazy fun, but it was still fun........tho im not quite sure wat izit they put in the drinks there.......cos the hangovers from dbl o are always more throbbing than other places.........

hooked J's fren up with some guy she fancied..........only for her to later find him too short.........which he was actually........and he was wearing pink........pink.........really.......wat izit with girls and pink? come to think of it, i wonder how much she fancied the guy as compared to the shirt..........

might be hitting MoS on the eve of new yr's eve..........or maybe it would be better to jus chill out at home this new yr's season..........

Relief

been awhile since the last post..........

nothing extremely exciting has been happening recently.........got my exam results on monday and im relieved to have passed all the subjects.........it's a real load off my mind.........now im cleared to tackle the final semester and my project for an on time graduation........

it's gonna be another really hectic semester, fiddled around with my subject combinations for the next sem and found that ill be having even more longer days as compared to last sem......ohwell, watever it takes..........

went to watch king kong yesterday and had carl's jr for breakfast.............they had 4 breakfasts on the menu board and i managed to try 3 of them, overall they are all quite good.............so added with the movie, it was a good treat..........

it didnt end there tho, dropped by the godiva chocolatier while on the way home and got myself one of their "Dark Chocolate Decadence" chocolixir........fantastic stuff.........even tho for 8 bucks all u get is a puny cup, that puny cup packs a wallop of a chocolate punch...........worth every single cent..........

the year is ending soon.........time really flies...........much has happened this year........will leave that for the next post...........time to break out the resolutions list...........

Mango And Sound

was quite a rush yesterday.........in a sense.........

went to the mango sale with J in the evening.........and ill like to add here that there is nothing quite like the scene that unfolded before me when i walked into Wisma's Isetan........

actually, had already gotten an idea what it would be like when i walked past the mango boutique at taka..........the place was packed.......packed like a friday/saturday nite at a club........

it was........man paradise..........

then again, a room full of mad, frenzied women grabbing everything in sight might be an acquired taste for the average male...........

managed to find myself a spot on the outside of the........i cant find a word to replace "big ball of female flesh".......ohyes........FWAH...........while J gleefully jumped right into the fray and filled up her issued Isetan plastic carrier in no time........

the isetan could have done the men a favour actually.......seeing how we had to stand at the side and watch our better halves go wild............they could have issued the women santarina outfits to wear while they shopped...........

had a brainstorm while waiting for J to do her shopping........guys shld ditch the SDU and get a job as a mango salesman if they wanna meet women...........they'll be instant gal pal material......

left for the Ministry Of Sound Pre-Launch Party after that.........yep, MoS has finally opened in sg.......and i was there~! the place is a blast........2 floors, i can't remember how many rooms.......think was around 4? music's great.........but the drinks.........die lah.......for $50 a pop and tasting like water, the place will flop if they don't bump it up a notch in that dept............

dunno how long they are gonna last........bets anyone?

supposed to come up with a warm, fuzzy and full of care bear positivity post, so.......let's see

christmas is round the corner.........in abt 2wks, that warm and fuzzy time of the year will come once again.........sadly there's no snow in sg.........tho at the rate that the weather is going nutty, perhaps one day we might see tons of the white stuff falling from the sky........that is of course before we start getting pummeled by hale shortly after..........

okok........warm and fuzzy, warm and fuzzy.........fire and brimstone? definitely warm enuf........not fuzzy tho.........

christmas always has that special feeling to it.......as a kid, christmas meant bugging my parents for christmas presents and having my aunt and cousins over for a small get together.........

not to say im no longer a kid, i am still a kid........at least that's what J believes.......she thinks im the biggest kid that this side of the planet has to offer........and since im a kid, i get presents.......and bcos im a big kid, i get big kid presents...........so.........yep, this is where i do my annual "dear santa" list............

think the past semester has taken its toll.........feeling pretty burnt out in regards to the studying.......to the extent i dun feel like looking or thinking abt my FYP even tho i believe it to be a rather straightforward project to do...........even getting myself to start writing simple pieces of code seems like a herculean task.............i end up doing things like this - blogging

the brain is jus not functioning..........study-wise......

coupled with an unresponsive FYP sup and this is a project that i foresee not much benefit, the situation is not a cheery one.........if only they had a drug that can turn on/off the workaholic portion of the brain and a steroid that can boost the performance of that portion.........ill prob have the whole project done in a matter of hours..........

the ideas and stuff i need to do are all there...........im jus not doing it.........jus not in the right frame of mind i guess..........

went to watch "perhaps love" on friday nite..........it sucked..........jus a bloody moulin rouge wannabe falling flat..........nearly fell asleep watching it.........and as mentioned, i dun have much patience for mandarin songs........most prob cos my chinese sucks.........

bo pian.......i like my potatoes..........

one highlight of that day tho, finally got to go eat Carl's Jr again.........had the "Portobello Mushroom Double" burger this time round.........and despite it being an obvious BK "Mushroom Swiss Double" competitor/wannabe...........in my books, it wins the mushroom swiss hands down, no fight.............

gotta go back there for breakfast one day........their egg and bacon burrito looks extremely enticing........

realised i haven blogged abt the new zouk.........well........nothing to rave abt.........the place is basically jus the same........but the service sucked that nite..........

waited at the bar counter for half an hour before i got the attention of a bartender, and when i did, he told me to wait for another bartender while he went on to serve someone else......and when i finally got another bartender, he told me to wait also........was rather pissed and told him i have been waitin for ages, he retorted.......yes, retorted......not explained, he was getting angry with me, it was written all over his face............that there was still time for the one for one, that i need not be gan jiong and he went on to serve someone else...........wtf

ok, ive gone and done it.......ive gone and bought myself a new buffing machine to work on my ride with............

and i feel mighty pleased with myself cos it costs half the price of the model i'd originally intended to get..........so, mucho savings......saving money will always put a smile on any person's face............except maybe for those who have too much of it and would rather be getting rid of their money cos they are getting a rash from too much swimming moola.........

how does it perform? i hope it'll be good..........read the posts of some pple using the same machine and they were positive so im hoping ill get the same results..........

been going round to my sis' place during the past 2 days.........and i still cant get over the view from her living room............it is jus superb........one day, i hope to get a house that has an equally magnificent view...........

today is a momentous day..........i laid my hands on the new civic..........

sadly tho, it wasnt mine.........it was the one on display at the Kah Motor showroom.......

the interior was really.........FWAH..........haven seen a more beautiful instrument panel........the exterior was nice too.........tho think it would look better with a kit.........and it was a tad bit too city-ish.........y izit that all the jap manufacturers are turning towards the bubble-boy look nowadays? wat happened to the low slung, long bonnet, long flowing lines of the yester-years? seems like only the europeans know how to design good looking entry level cars.........

all in all, throw a kit on and new coilovers, i can seriously picture myself driving the new civic..........time to break out the piggy bank~!

in other news.......think ive mentioned before my displeasure with working with my final year project supervisor.........and once again, he has managed to errrr.....i got no panties to twist......but the idea is there........

it is fantastic how he manages to leave me flabbergasted time and time again..........it has been almost half a yr now and several meetings and yet today he can still ask me, "So what are you doing for your project?"

and ytf does he have to always be doing something else when talking to me? i dunno abt others, but it seems that each time i talk to him, he will find something to do at the same time........the other time it was looking thru his mail, then it was reading a magazine, and then there was the replying his email and today..........he read the today paper page by page......

thankfully this time i didnt have the urge to sock it to him...........

and he has this funny little time telling thingy hidden somewhere in his office........it will read out the time every 15mins or so..........dunno y he needs it, but hey, the guy has so many stripes on his convocation gown i guess he needs the same number of quirks to balance things out...........

but the guy is smart..........ill give him that.......he has to be doing something right to be able to be the director of CAIS (Centre for Advanced something something systems)........

wait......i take it back.........the guy put on a jacket, walked out of his office to discuss something at the computer terminals with me, proclaimed that it was getting warm and proceeded back to his office.........duh...........

k lah, im jus being biased........he really is bloody smart.........ill give him that.......

now, i need some help with a decision........i intend to spend a fair amount of money on all of these items.......but the purchases will be spread over a period of time of course, so i need to prioritise which is first and so on...........
1. an orbital buffer for polishing my ride - to cut down the time spent grooming my ride, im really spending too much time using elbow grease, and the results arent up to par either
2. a new LCD monitor - old story, my monitor is dying, i know it's been dying for ages, but it's giving way soon.......it flickered today.........think it should be able to last till the next pc show tho.......im hoping it does, so that by then the prices would be dropped some more
3. a new set of tyres - it's abt time already.........almost 40k km already, went round the bedok ecp exit tyres screeching when it normally doesnt......then again, i might have been going a wee bit faster than normal trying to chase down The Indian........but then, The Indian wasnt going that fast either..........

the first 2 cost more or less the same amount..........the tyres would be the cheapest of the lot by abt a hundred bucks..........

got something i need to get off my chest..........

Visual Studio .NET is a shit piece of development software to use........and Microsoft has gotta be the biggest arse on this planet............

Wantan Mee and Me

went for a drink last nite at some pub along boat quay..........a fren's younger sis was working there and we jus popped by for a few rounds of drinks............nobody told me it was a ktv pub tho........yep, im not a fan of ktv/karaoke..........i enjoy doing a few odes in the bathroom or in my car, but i dun enjoy sitting in a room or pub singing songs or listening to pple sing their lungs out...........i dun find it fun, singing nor listening..........and worse of all, karaoke songs tend to be in a language i am most unfamiliar with - mandarin..........which was wat i heard all nite last nite..........

have my own opinions on the mando/canto/j/k - pop/hop scene but that's for another post another time..........

ended up spending the nite playing big/small with princess vv.........yes, princess.....yes, it is vv, there wasnt a typo.........no, i dunno y princess, she just calls herself that.........nobody dares/bothers to refute it anywayz.........

big/small with alcohol involved is very fun...........instant gratification, that's how games should be..........no need to count the number of fingers like five-ten or thinking about numbers in 7-up...........jus one guess, win or lose...........im so going to bring dice with me the next time i go drinking..........

princess vv's sis was the one who was working in the pub and evidently she had not gotten over my noodle eating feat when we had met for dinner way back..........she wanted me to eat a bowl of wantan mee in soup in under a minute for her and her colleagues to see...........duh.......

side note:
always believed that wantan should be spelt with an A and not O as in wanton.......really, cos somehow ive always had this perception that "wanton" went with "slut" as in "wanton slut"........ so wanton mee doesnt sound very rite especially when u pronounce it without reading it.......i.e. i aint wanton and i sure as hell aint a slut..........

back to the post..........im not a great fan of wantan mee.......but hunger was lurking as the alcohol piled up........so i agreed to eat the noodles if princess vv's sis bought a bowl for me.......and she did.........

long story short, she was satisfied, i was satisfied, i took 30secs and her frens became all misty eyed watching me........

that din sound very rite...........

one thing i dun understand is y do girls get excited over such teeny little things........according to the princess, they will cheer on and get excited over almost anything.........

another one of those great unanswered questions of the universe...........
