An Update

well, ive finally found the time and energy to blog alittle.......sitting in J's room waiting for her to return from her relative's place just a few blocks from here..........how convenient it is to have relatives nearby........u can pop by for a little change of environment every now and then........and food too.....

im settling down quite nicely into my job........trying to come up with a routine so that i can continue with the stuff i enjoy doing during the wk...........

but to quickly summarize wat's been happening:
1. work has picked up sufficiently to keep me occupied during the day
2. ive begun on a self-imposed diet
3. ive finally squeezed out the time to detail my ride. doing one step an evening over the course of 3 evenings. with the help of J on the washing bit.
4. im gonna start rearing new fishes. i.e. cichlids
5. ive learnt the meanings of 'chichi' and 'caveat emptor'. Merriam Webster online is a godsend.

the reason behind no.2 is the amount of food ive been taking in and my dropping of an exercise routine........lately it's always been hokkien mee + 'oh jian' (translated: oyster omlette'), or porridge + hokkien mee + 'oh jian', or chicken chop + .......nah, not hokkien mee + 'oh jian' tho they were very tempting at the time..........yee mian (translated: yee noodles) + chicken wings..........

im surprised ive not ballooned yet........

there have been times when a nice juicy bit of blog fodder surfaces, but i never get down to putting it in words.......mainly cos i dun have the energy or time to do it at the end of a day........
there is an incident or 2 that has stuck sufficiently for me to blog abt........
first, on a more serious and self-reflective note, an indonesian colleague asked me this question recently, "So why do you like IT?" IT being information technology, not sex.......

my answer wasnt immediate........but when it came, i realised how true it actually is considering those who know me probably think i enjoy the field.........my answer was, "I don't really like it (per se). It's just something I am good at and have the patience for it."

on a less serious note, 2 of my pet gripes have surfaced enuff times recently for me to warrant a post on then...........i guess it happens everytime i meet new people..........the first being my colleagues (particularly my director) mispronoucing my name........they (particularly him) jus cant seem to get it rite no mater how many times i try to 'reintroduce' myself..........there are times i jus give up and use my chinese name to avoid feeling like a certain 500 pound WWE wrestling star.......

the other gripe is the whole issue abt my age.........was having lunch with my colleagues and PM yesterday (yes, it was a saturday, i had to go back to office this earlier this morning too incidentally) when the topic of discussion came round to how old we all were and when the year of my birth was revealed, my PM had this to exclaim (translated from mandarin), "81 only?"

sighz...............
